She’s a delicate osmanthus flower. He recalls her pleasant scent of sweet jasmine, ripe peaches and apricots. That glimmer in her eyes. How those crimson lips beckon. His obsession with this deliciously golden, fragrant flower.
“We are meant to be. Come away with me. Now, before it is too late.”
“I can’t. Not anymore. It was a mistake from the very beginning. We can never live in our own world. By our own rules. That’s not how it works.”
“Lies.” he whispered gently into her ear. “Your eyes deceived you. I can see your desires, your love, your weakness. I am the only person who can read you.”
“You don’t know anything about me!”
As she walked away he grabbed her arm and told her to stay. He said “You’re mine. I don`t want to you to love me in solitude, I need to be with you forever. Without you, I will die.”
“You are my life.” Sencha.

To heighten the experience, I would add more golden osmanthus flowers to the brew.
After all, it is an aphrodisiac for the palate. More is never enough.

Never had a chance to encounter this fragrant flower until The Husband introduced Osmanthus tea and Osmanthus cake to me in Shanghai. Osmanthus flower isn’t widely used in Malaysia/Singapore cuisines. The next time I visit Shanghai, I must visit the thousands of sweet Osmanthus tress planted 20 years ago in the 10,000-square-metre garden.
